About

Hello! Welcome to Mixture43. My name is Karen and I am a married mum of two boys and also a Head Teacher at a  primary school in the North West of England. We live in a converted cow barn with a large Hay Loft that is slowly becoming my studio of goodies. In a former life I was Textile Designer and maker and I’m still passionate about textiles, designing and making. In my spare time I love to: knit, sew, quilt, make home furnishings, crochet, bake scrummy cakes, paint, climb hills, read and run through the countryside. What a busy life! I hope you enjoy pootling about through my ramblings and musings.x

  1. Today is a good day! I came across your blog in a search for tips on striped, crocheted blankets and am delighted to see photos of such beautiful examples! I’m working on a blanket for a new grandson — a stripey one, with yarn changes on each row. I’m getting a little overwhelmed with all the ends to be dealt with. Just wondering what method you recommend for making the color-change joinings less noticeable. Thank you!
